<h2>Here is a time line of Dr. Ilizarov's life:</h2>
<ul id="timeline">
<li><strong><time>15 June 1921</time></strong> - Ilizarov was born a sixth child to a poor Jewish peasant family in Białowieża, Polesie Voivodeship, Poland</li>
<li><strong><time>1939 - 1944</time></strong> - studies at Crimea State Medical University</li>
<li><strong><time>1944</time></strong> - starts his medical career as a physician in Dolgovka village, Kurgan oblast</li>
<li><strong><time>1947</time></strong> - starts experimenting with apparatus for orthopedic surgery. Later, after many improvements, this invention will be known as <em>"Ilizarov apparatus"</em></li>
<li><strong><time>1950</time></strong> - works as orthopedist in Kurgan Regional Hospital</li>
<li><strong><time>1954</time></strong> - gets patent for his invention of orthopedic apparatus for treating limb bones</li>
<li><strong><time>1968</time></strong> - was awarded the title Doctor of Sciences bypassing the Candidate of Sciences degree</li>
<li><strong><time>1971</time></strong> - Russian Scientific Center for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics was established. Dr. Ilizarov was appointed as the head of this research center</li>
<li><strong><time>1982</time></strong> - gets worldwide recognition. His technology and methods known as <em>"Ilizarov's surgery"</em> spread to Spain, France, Germany, Belgium and the USA</li>
<li><strong><time>1992</time></strong> - dies at the age of 71 because of heart failure</li>

<h2 id="heritage-title">Heritage</h2>
<p id="heritage">Nowadays the Russian (Ilizarov) Scientific Center for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics is named after Dr. Ilizarov.
The center is the largest in the world that specializes in the treatment of complex orthopaedic problems.
Every year over 9,000 people receive treatment and rehabilitation at the RISC RTO.
Patients of any country and age group can apply for treatment at the RISC RTO. Unique methods, introduced by Dr. Ilizarov, help people to regain their mobility
even after the most serious injuries and to correct congenital orthopaedic pathologies.</p>
