The program will crash if the user disconnects the the SEAL kit in the middle of scanning or when the program tries to retrieve dark current values (given the program is not in mocked mode). Perhaps you could implement some mechanism that would detect when the USB is disconnected and create a popup asking the user to reconnect the SEAL kit or switch to mocked mode.
