Currently the tool identifies areas with similar climates but the climatic similarity values is rather esoteric and users have no idea how similar the climates may actually be.
Allow users to select a location on the map and extract information on the current and future climate at each site, similar to the Analogues GUI, this will quickly and easily visualise how the current and projected climate at each location differ and allow comparison of climates at candidate analogue sites.
Also give the option to combine climate graphs. e.g for Backwards analysis combine the future climate of the reference site with the current climate of a candidate site to allow a quick comparison. This will allow you to compare how closely candidate sites actually resemble the predicted future climate of the reference site:
Also facilitate the extraction of data directly from the select a site page (i.e. without first performing a run) this will allow users to extract/visualize data quickly if they are interested in how their climate is predicted to change in the future.
This is possible now but it requires you have to perform the run in r or online then use gismap or equivalent to identify similar sites and extract coordinates, and then put the coordinates into another r script to extract climate data.
Benefits:
Automation of this process making it available to non-expert users
Facilitates analogue site identification by allowing users to investigate the raw data of reference and analogue sites
