I believe this is an intentional feature, as it can be seen in the original imgur gif (https://imgur.com/UChVHkq), but it is a really strange feature.

I can also confirm that this appears when using RSS.

It would make far more sense to allow for other planets to be seen even if you have no crafts in their SOI.
