Hi there,
any chance to have this working on CHUANGMI 720P? This is using same chipset as mijia 720 I think: GM8135.

Thanks

Apparently this camera does not have a serial to use in order to access u-boot.
I suggest not to buy it.

What about thos Q-Tx and Q-Rx?

Unfortunately there is no output from there.
I tried connecting to both Q-RX/Q-TX and 2-RX/2-TX that is on the left lower corner. Simply no output.
On USB/UART connector LEDs are not even blinking.
I took some photos of what I connected:

Note: I tried on 2 different boards :)

That is odd..

@willthrom well, what can I say? I agree. The only doubt I had was about the USB Adapter. I tried one with cp210x and another one with CH341. On both the result is the same... should I use something different?

P.S.: I am total newbie on this stuff!

I guess you tried the other way. Rx -> TX , Tx -> Rx.
I used a very old UART USB Adarpter and I didn't have any problem.

Keep in mind you might need to restart the camera to get any TX input....

Yes, yes.
Connections were RX to TX and TX to RX, but I even tried swapping the cables without any good result.
Of course I did restart the camera to check for data to flow.

Can you check with a voltage meter the GND with the TX? I see 3 GND....

GND + TX --> 3.3V
GND + RX --> ~3V

On both outputs (0-RX. 0TX and 2-RX, 2-TX)

Correction... on the 0-RX and 0-TX I have both 3.3V
On 2-RX --> ~3V and on 2-TX --> 3.3V

BTW, GND (I think is normal) are all the same. There is continuity between them.

Others have had some success with this camera. It started with an issue raised on FangHacks, then someone managed to get telnet working from a custom image (now hosted here with loose instructions.

There's a new claim that the RTSP server from here works, but I haven't tested it yet.

I can confirm that the Mijia 720P firmware works. I've put together a repo with instructions:
https://github.com/jymbob/chuangmi-720-hack

Note I'm not the author of any of the code, just collating it into a working package
