@mkavulich any feedback on [INSTALL]: METcalcpy, METplotpy, METdataio #1112 ? It seems that this is a precursor test, as it were, yes?

@mkavulich Can you please provide feedback on #1112 if you haven't done so yet. Otherwise, this issue will slip to the next release. Thanks.

@rickgrubin NRL also needs met@12 and metplus@6. I can pick this up if you can point me to your development branches for the met, metplus updates that you've been working on. Thanks!

@climbfuji I can pull out the upgrade of METcalcpy, METplotpy, and METdataio into a separate issue if that would help speed things along.

I don't think it will help with the timing, but thanks for the offer!

I updated the package.py files to use v3.0.0 for each py- package, and also for MET (v12.0.0) and METplus (v6.0.0).

Build testing was done with the following entries in spack.yaml:

    # DTC METplus
    - py-metcalcpy
    - py-metdataio
    - py-metplotpy

for standalone (e.g. create env with the empty template) and unified-dev envs.

@climbfuji Note that a MET bugfix release went out today (12.0.1) so you'll probably want to use that.
