this is an exact mirror of what should be in the other repo. The font code needs some help- most of the rountines are spot on. Whether this works in KMS environment is yet to be determined.
DISABLE X11 or provide a tty thats not running it for this code to work. DEMANDS ROOT or sudo access or setuid to function.(sorry- its a linux hardware access thing.)
