It would be useful if Core objects held the CMNode that they were created from. This would let a savvy user query the node to get things like line/column position in the original data.
I like the way that the Core objects tree works, and I like attributed strings, but I also need to reference back to where in the original data a particular object exists, so that I can modify the original data appropriately.

I think this is something we can consider doing too. I should have my desk setup in my new apartment this weekend, so it should be easier to start working on some of this.
