A long time ago we briefly discussed the possibility of being able to read the stats on items and being able to identify the item with the best fit. This comes in handy when you do crazy things like I do with the batch utility and have it write to the expanded inventory file using Grim UI (which gives me thousands of slots). Hovering over each one is painful and time consuming at the least. You mentioned that the data is stored in memory so there really wasn't an easy way for a utility to be created.
Haven't played GD for a while but I saw a new feature was built for gd-edit by @wyrez. so I live in hope still. Is it at least theoretically possibly to build such a utIlity ? If so maybe someone like @wyrez would be interested at giving it a shot. It's niche for sure but would allow me to get back to GD and gd-edit once again (once I could select the best pieces, then create the json and hit the build button with the new utility instead of having to do each piece at a time !). The new tool takes me to new heights of laziness but I always want more :-)
