1. COMPILATION
---------------
In order to compile PHOTOS without dependencies on any external libraries,
from PHOTOS directory execute:
./configure --without-hepmc
make
It is, however, recommended to provide path to HepMC package as this
is the most common use of the package:
./configure --with-hepmc=<PATH_TO_HEPMC>

HepMC can be compiled by executing (for example):
./configure --with-momentum=GEV --with-length=CM --prefix=<YOUR_INSTALL_DIR>
make install

2. BASIC EXAMPLES
------------------
Directory 'examples' contains sample output files from all of the examples.
To run the most basic examples, enter PHOTOS/examples directory and
execute:
./configure
make
This will build all available examples. In case of above instructions,
this will build 'photos_hepevt_example.exe' which takes a second to run
and if HepMC path was provided 'photos_standalone_example.exe' will be
available, which takes about 4 minutes to run.

3. PYTHIA8 EXAMPLES
--------------------
Providing path to pythia8 allows to compile 'single_photos_gun_example.exe'
as well as 'photosLCG_pythia_example.exe' used by GENSER (Generator Service
Project for LHC Computing Grid) to validate PHOTOS. These examples require
pythia8.201

Compile by executing:
./configure
make
(can take few minutes to compile)
After building pythia8, go to PHOTOS/examples and execute:
./confugire --with-pythia8=<YOUR_PATH_TO_PYTHIA8>
make
source ../configure.paths.sh
This last step is needed to set environment variable PYTHIA8DATA.
Without it, pythia8 examples will quickly end with an error: Aborted from PYTHIA
Pythia examples take less than 4 minutes to complete.

4. MC-TESTER EXAMPLE
---------------------
Providing paths both to pythia8 and MC-TESTER allows to compile an additional
example, 'photos_pythia_example.exe'. It also allows to run most of the tests
located in 'examples/testing'.

Compile by executing:
./configure --with-HepMC=<PATH_TO_HEPMC>
make
After following steps in point 3 and building MC-TESTER, go to PHOTOS/examples and execute:
./confugire --with-pythia8=<YOUR_PATH_TO_PYTHIA8> --with-mc-tester=<YOUR_PATH_TO_MC_TESTER>
make
source ../configure.paths.sh
This example takes less than a minute to complete. Time to run tests in 'examples/testing'
directory vary, depending on the statistics used, from a minute to hours.

5. TAUOLA EXAMPLE
------------------
Lastly, Tauola++ can be added to compile 'tauola_photos_pythia_example.exe' as well
as rest of the tests in 'examples/testing' directory.

Compile by executing:
./configure --with-hepmc=<PATH_TO_HEPMC>
make
After following steps in points 3 and 4 and building Tauola++, go to PHOTOS/examples and execute:
./confugire --with-pythia8=<YOUR_PATH_TO_PYTHIA8> --with-mc-tester=<YOUR_PATH_TO_MC_TESTER> --with-tauola=<YOUR_PATH_TO_TAUOLA>
make
source ../configure.paths.sh
This example takes about 2 minutes to complete.
NOTE: depending on your configuration of pythia8 and Tauola, you may need to increase maximum
interference weight of Photos by adding:
Photos::maxWtInterference(3);
After line:
Photos::initialize();
