Unable to authenticate

can't seem to get it working no matter what setings i use
• self signed app latest version ipad
• trying to connect to seedbox.io ruTorrent instance
• main page says 'Host Online' and i can see my seedbox when i tap on the safari tab
• no torrents are listed on main screen and red banner saying Unable to authenticate appears

i've tried combinations on http / https / ruTorrent / ruTorrent HTTRPC, not sure what else to do

• also the app crashes every second time i try to edit the torrent clients in settings
• the app crashes when i tap on the 3rd tab (not sure what it's for)
