I just installed Fedora 28 with gnome 3.28.1

As home-shell and nautilus does not longer manage icons on desktop I tried to install this extension but after reboot I do not see it in extensions panel in tweak-tool.

I tried to place it in both ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/org.gnome.desktop-icons and /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/org.gnome.desktop-icons

Any help ?

You need to install in this folder name
https://github.com/Ste74/org.gnome.desktop-icons-reworked/blob/master/metadata.json#L4
For an accident i forgot the -shell in the name

Thanks for your answer, extension works if installer in correct folder !
I suggest an improvement: at this time if a hidden file - filename beginning by a dot - exists in desktop folder, it is displayed as normal files. You should filter these files.

@didierga you probably don't need it anymore but I've just implemented what you were asking for. it's been merged with master branch so you can download it now.
