Do we want local? International (aka Carpentries)? What aspect do we want them to talk about?

Do we want local? International (aka Carpentries)? What aspect do we want them to talk about?

@dvanic , I think having an international and a local speaker would be good. Linking in with one or more of the themes we've identified makes sense:

Skills Providers

  • Resilient and sustainable trainer communities: people, resources, governance
  • Training outcomes: assessment frameworks for trainers/training providers
  • Learning pathways, credentialing and evolving qualification/accreditation systems

Designing, implementing and delivering training

  • Partnerships and collaborations in co-design and co-delivery of training
  • Innovative teaching and best practice: in person, online, hybrid
  • Transformative skills: translating skills training to practice (learner stories) Not sure where this one fits - if at all?

Specialist Skills and Training

  • Breakthrough technology updates - emerging data-intensive research methodologies and technologies
  • Digital research skills – getting started with in five minutes [lightning talks]
  • Hacky hour - Ask me anything on skill "X" [panel sessions]

I thought we could ask Lou Woodley (Center Director of Center for Scientific Collaboration and Community Engagement (CSCCE) - her focus would be community building rather than skills training.

We had Karen Word from the Carpentries last year, but given the Carpentries Consortium is a big deal this year, might be good to have a Carpentries keynote again.

For Carpentries, we could try Toby Hodges, their new curriculum development lead, in that case?
