A lot of guys are actually using KNOPPIX for system rescue (and drivedroid will probably be used for system rescue as well).
I'd recommend adding this distribution to DriveDroid.

Yes, this is indeed something I've tried to make work. However the ISO of Knoppix is not hybrid. Hybrid ISOs can work on CD-rom drives as well as USB-drives. DriveDroid at the moment only emulates USB-drives, that's why all distros that are on distscraper only have hybrid ISOs (most modern distros use this).
Anyway, I'm about to put true CD-rom support in DriveDroid, but this requires patches to the kernel which is hard to get on all devices (atm only nightly builds of CyanogenMod for Samsung Galaxy S is supported). Once support for CD-rom-drives is enabled on most popular devices running CyanogenMod, I'm going to add an option to allow non-hybrid ISOs in DriveDroids downloadlist too.
EDIT: Oh I forgot to mention that you can get KNOPPIX working by creating a new blank image in DriveDroid, load that image and follow the 'install KNOPPIX to USB'-guide that you can find here: http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/knoppix-flash-en.html
