Regarding DLL Integration in Specific ImageGlass Version

Hello everyone,

I've been using ImageGlass for quite a while and have been extremely satisfied with the tool. Recently, I came across a term named "spider.com DLL" and was wondering if it had ever been integrated into any version of ImageGlass. If so, could someone please let me know which version(s) this might have been?

It's integrated in v8.4 and removed after a week long time ago.

ImageGlass Kobe has no longer had it.

Why was it included in the first place? I wasn't aware of this until recently reading a comment on AlternativeTo.net, which makes me feel uneasy. I like ImageGlass but this discovery has shaken my opinion. Is there anything like this included now?

The author currently promotes a bundleware edition "ImageGlass Spider". The bundled software will "share resources" of your computer with business partners. First and foremost it will proxy traffic through your IP to help said business partners hide their tracks, whatever they do.

For less experienced users, the "Spider" edition is indistinguishable from the "Kobe" or "Moon" editions and can easily be mistaken for a new version with breaking changes prompting for a new name.

I must admit that learning about the inclusion of the "spider.com DLL" in ImageGlass was both shocking and disheartening for me. While I understand and fully support the need for developers to monetize their efforts, I believe there's a line that shouldn't be crossed, especially when it comes to user security and trust.

I've been an avid user of ImageGlass and would have been more than willing to financially support its continued development. Instead, I found myself facing potential security issues which resulted in having to take drastic measures, such as reinstalling all of my systems. This incident has not only resulted in significant financial repercussions for me but also eroded the trust I had in the software.

The foundation of any software's success lies in the trust it builds with its user community. While mistakes can be made, it's essential for the developers to address them transparently and take measures to prevent them in the future. I truly hope that ImageGlass can rebuild the trust it once had, but this incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining user trust and security.
