My projects are all single-user with limited need for branching. I mostly use RCS to handle granular tagged backups, historical checkpoints, and to support easy push/pull to a remote machine when I go on the road. So for my purposes, git is overkill. Coming from a CVS and Subversion background, I want something simple and easy to remember. Instead of git, I settled on bzr. I've gone through the Soywiki code and replaced all the git commands with bzr equivalents, and it seems to be working well for my needs. But it's probably worth taking the time to abstract the RCS specifics out so that users can choose which one they want to use rather than forcing a specific choice.
