The Families Gamemode. Home. At least it was 'til I fucked everything up. (#49274)

Adds the Families gamemode to the codebase. In this 1 hour showdown, multiple criminal families are placed onto the station with their goal to rack up the most points by the end of 1 hour. At which point, the Space Cops hit up the station to crack down on the family activity. The severity of the Space Cops is based on how much carnage and murder the families have committed.

Why It's Good For The Game

With an actual official medium/heavy RP server, and the codebase taking a much harder swing towards heavier consequences for death, a more player focused gamemode with a unique swing on teamwork, the concept of what exactly is an antagonist, and trust/paranoia will do wonders to help improve that atmosphere.

Previous tests went extremely well(when administrators weren't intentionally sabotaging it by welderbombing families as the Head of Security every single round immediately with no escalation), but suffered from "this just isn't a gamemode for no RP servers like /tg/".

However, /tg/ is now an RP server.

Get ready to rep your family.

Isn't this just Gang?

Heck no. Only thing similar is tagging turf and the fact criminal groups are involved. This mode is completely different otherwise.

Heck yeah, where do I sign up?

Ask a family member where their Signup Point is, and then simply click on it with an open hand. You'll be signed up for the family instantly, and given some sick threads and a spraycan for tagging.

How do I rep my family?

Wear your gang's uniform or colors similar.

What does it mean to roll with a crew?

Travel in a group of four or more for bonus points towards your gang. However, you receive less for having eight or more, so be careful. Try to spread your crews out!

I'm an X, what do?

Gangster: Yeah, go do whatever. Wanna backstab your gang? Go for it. You can switch sides at any time by clicking on an enemy gang's sign up point. Wanna murder some snitch because they ratted you out to the pigs? Do it. Wanna pressure the locals into supplying you with goods to export? Emergent gameplay. Civilians: Wanna join a gang? Go for it. Gangsters probably shouldn't be arbitrarily murdering you, but if you're repping someone else's colors, don't expect to be given a free pass. After all, uniforms are the only way to really identify a gang member. SPACE COP: Get rid of all the gangsters. Secure the station. Protect the law. Uphold the law. Eat donuts.

No huds? How can I tell if someone's part of my group?

Tough shit, man. I hope you like trust.

In short, this gamemode will be a fun exercise in how far the playerbase can go in regards to trusting eachother and unifying to meet a common goal for their group with no rules, gameplay mechanics, or anything actively forcing them to work together.

How do I know if someone is a gangster?

  1. Are they wearing a gang uniform/color? If yes, they're probably a gangster. If no, they're probably a civvie.
  2. Are they attacking gangsters? If yes, they're probably a gangster. If no, they're probably a civvie.

Update Depth3D.fx

Depth3D: Harden to help prevent cheating. -=let me know if I can do more=-

+Cursor Is now Bound to the 3D image only. +Removed Depth Buffer Debug view to keep users from using this to cheat. +Basic VR Compatibility added so that it can be used with VR Desktop apps. +Basic Theater Mode added for Cellphone VR users. +Renamed many items in the UI to help new users with controlling this shader. +New Depth Detection Code. +New Screen Boundary Detection added. +Edge Handling added from SuperDepth3D

Fixed issues with the UI in Freestyle and automated many functions as I could to reduce UI clutter. The idea was to keep as much of the functionality as possible without sacrificing too much.

Fixed issues with NV System that was causing a black screen on my Testers PC. This was not easy, I had to remote into a user's pc halfway across the world since I needed someone with an NV Card that was able to help me. Seems like this may be an issue for me with porting my other shaders. Thank you, Durante - aka Dorinte & TheGordinho - aka Gordinho

The goal of Depth3D to allow users to experience the world of 3D Gaming by adding real depth to your game. -=This shader requires depth access to work=-

This shader will work with 3D TV, 3D Monitors, and the NEW VR HMDs. The VR Theater experience worth exploring in VR. Here are two free applications for VR Headsets That I seen people use that anyone can try. Virtual Space https://store.steampowered.com/app/703480/Virtual_Space/ Big Screen https://bigscreenvr.com/help/gettingstarted/sbs3d/

Older games and non-VR games can benefit from being played again with Stereo3D. I have been working on My 3D Shader for some time now and learned how to improve things over time even with limitations. My hope is to share this experience with as many people as possible. I would like this shader to be considered as a standard shader to be used as openly as NV discontinued 3DVision Stereo Software. Since I know many users in the 3D community still enjoy 3D gaming.

Please let me know if there is anything I can change. That can help. Thank you.

Noted Issues One of the things that bug me with Depth3D It's hard to use for new users. So I will be making better tutorials when I have the hardware to do so for VR.

Turning this Stream into Demo

Starting with this update, this stream will be working towards becoming a finished "Alpha" version of Gamble. Another project has been started for remaking the game from scratch, while will make better use of Unitys hitboxes, physics and tilemap features.

This does not mean this stream will become obsolete just yet. My goal is to continue this version as a sort of proof of concept where certain details will continue to be worked out.

Enemy AI -I would like enemies to do more than just walk around and do thing, so enemy behaviour is key for our demo -Slimes will pounce at the player when in a certain range -Wurms, Snowballs, and Snowdrifts all have the same behaviour of moving towards the player and stopping to shoot at them occasionally -These enemies can also drop through one way tiles to persue the player -Wurms also have a melee attack they will use if the player is in range

Shark Boss -Shark boss actually does shit, check out his new wave move!

Experience Bar -A yellow XP bar at the top of the screen tracks the parties progress towards a new level -Levelling up grants a talent point, spend it wisely!

introduce new release process (#4513)

Context

After multiple discussions about our current release schedule and process, we've come to the conclusion that we need to be able to make a distinction between technical snapshots and marketing releases. In other words, we need to be able to create a bundle for early adopters to test without making it an officially-supported version, and without necessarily implying everyone should go through the trouble of upgrading. The underlying goal is to have less frequent but more stable "official" releases.

This PR is a proposal for a new release process designed under the following constraints:

  • Reuse as much as possible of the existing infrastructure, to minimize effort but also chances of disruptions.
  • Have the ability to create "snapshot"/"nightly"/... releases that are not meant for general public consumption, but can still be used by savvy users without jumping through too many extra hoops (ideally just swapping in a slightly-weirder version string).
  • Have the ability to promote an existing snapshot release to "official" release status, with as few changes as possible in-between, so we can be confident that the official release is what we tested as a prerelease.
  • Have as much of the release pipeline shared between the two types of releases, to avoid discovering non-transient problems while trying to promote a snapshot to an official release.
  • Triggerring a release should still be done through a PR, so we can keep the same approval process for SOC2 auditability.

The gist of this proposal is to replace the current VERSION file with a LATEST file, which would have the following format:

ef5d32b7438e481de0235c5538aedab419682388 0.13.53-alpha.20200214.3025.ef5d32b7

This file would be maintained with a script to reduce manual labor in producing the version string. Other than that, the process will be largely the same, with releases triggered by changes to this LATEST and the release notes files.

Version numbers

Because one of the goals is to reduce the velocity of our published version numbers, we need a different version scheme for our snapshot releases. Fortunately, most version schemes have some support for that; unfortunately, the SDK sits at the intersection of three different version schemes that have made incompatible choices. Without going into too much detail:

  • Semantic versioning (which we chose as the version format for the SDK version number) allows for "prerelease" version numbers as well as "metadata"; an example of a complete version string would be 1.2.3-nightly.201+server12.43. The "main" part of the version string always has to have 3 numbers separated by dots; the "prerelease" (after the - but before the +) and the "metadata" (after the +) parts are optional and, if present, must consist of one or more segments separated by dots, where a segment can be either a number or an alphanumeric string. In terms of ordering, metadata is irrelevant and any version with a prerelease string is before the corresponding "main" version string alone. Amongst prereleases, segments are compared in order with purely numeric ones compared as numbers and mixed ones compared lexicographically. So 1.2.3 is more recent than 1.2.3-1, which is itself less recent than 1.2.3-2.
  • Maven version strings are any number of segments separated by a ., a -, or a transition between a number and a letter. Version strings are compared element-wise, with numeric segments being compared as numbers. Alphabetic segments are treated specially if they happen to be one of a handful of magic words (such as "alpha", "beta" or "snapshot" for example) which count as "qualifiers"; a version string with a qualifier is "before" its prefix (1.2.3 is before 1.2.3-alpha.3, which is the same as 1.2.3-alpha3 or 1.2.3-alpha-3), and there is a special ordering amongst qualifiers. Other alphabetic segments are compared alphabetically and count as being "after" their prefix (1.2.3-really-final-this-time counts as being released after 1.2.3).
  • GHC package numbers are comprised of any number of numeric segments separated by ., plus an optional (though deprecated) alphanumeric "version tag" separated by a -. I could not find any official documentation on ordering for the version tag; numeric segments are compared as numbers.
  • npm uses semantic versioning so that is covered already.

After much more investigation than I'd care to admit, I have come up with the following compromise as the least-bad solution. First, obviously, the version string for stable/marketing versions is going to be "standard" semver, i.e. major.minor.patch, all numbers, which works, and sorts as expected, for all three schemes. For snapshot releases, we shall use the following (semver) format:

0.13.53-alpha.20200214.3025.ef5d32b7

where the components are, respectively:

  • 0.13.53: the expected version string of the next "stable" release.
  • alpha: a marker that hopefully scares people enough.
  • 20200214: the date of the release commit, which MUST be on master.
  • 3025: the number of commits in master up to the release commit (included). Because we have a linear, append-only master branch, this uniquely identifies the commit.
  • `ef5d32b7ù : the first 8 characters of the release commit sha. This is not strictly speaking necessary, but makes it a lot more convenient to identify the commit.

The main downsides of this format are:

  1. It is not a valid format for GHC packages. We do not publish GHC packages from the SDK (so far we have instead opted to release our Haskell code as separate packages entirely), so this should not be an issue. However, our SDK version currently leaks to ghc-pkg as the version string for the stdlib (and prim) packages. This PR addresses that by tweaking the compiler to remove the offending bits, so ghc-pkg would see the above version number as 0.13.53.20200214.3025, which should be enough to uniquely identify it. Note that, as far as I could find out, this number would never be exposed to users.
  2. It is rather long, which I think is good from a human perspective as it makes it more scary. However, I have been told that this may be long enough to cause issues on Windows by pushing us past the max path size limitation of that "OS". I suggest we try it and see what happens.

The upsides are:

  • It clearly indicates it is an unstable release (alpha).
  • It clearly indicates how old it is, by including the date.
  • To humans, it is immediately obvious which version is "later" even if they have the same date, allowing us to release same-day patches if needed. (Note: that is, commits that were made on the same day; the release date itself is irrelevant here.)
  • It contains the git sha so the commit built for that release is immediately obvious.
  • It sorts correctly under all schemes (modulo the modification for GHC).

Alternatives I considered:

  • Pander to GHC: 0.13.53-alpha-20200214-3025-ef5d32b7. This format would be accepted by all schemes, but will not sort as expected under semantic versioning (though Maven will be fine). I have no idea how it will sort under GHC.
  • Not having any non-numeric component, e.g. 0.13.53.20200214.3025. This is not valid semantic versioning and is therefore rejected by npm.
  • Not having detailed info: just go with 0.13.53-snapshot. This is what is generally done in the Java world, but we then lose track of what version is actually in use and I'm concerned about bug reports. This would also not let us publish to the main Maven repo (at least not more than once), as artifacts there are supposed to be immutable.
  • No having a qualifier: 0.13.53-3025 would be acceptable to all three version formats. However, it would not clearly indicate to humans that it is not meant as a stable version, and would sort differently under semantic versioning (which counts it as a prerelease, i.e. before 0.13.53) than under maven (which counts it as a patch, so after 0.13.53).
  • Just counting releases: 0.13.53-alpha.1, where we just count the number of prereleases in-between 0.13.52 and the next. This is currently the fallback plan if Windows path length causes issues. It would be less convenient to map releases to commits, but it could still be done via querying the history of the LATEST file.

Release notes

Note: We have decided not to have release notes for snapshot releases.

Release notes are a bit tricky. Because we want the ability to make snapshot releases, then later on promote them to stable releases, it follows that we want to build commits from the past. However, if we decide post-hoc that a commit is actually a good candidate for a release, there is no way that commit can have the appropriate release notes: it cannot know what version number it's getting, and, moreover, we now track changes in commit messages. And I do not think anyone wants to go back to the release notes file being a merge bottleneck.

But release notes need to be published to the releases blog upon releasing a stable version, and the docs website needs to be updated and include them.

The only sensible solution here is to pick up the release notes as of the commit that triggers the release. As the docs cron runs asynchronously, this means walking down the git history to find the relevant commit.

Note: We could probably do away with the asynchronicity at this point. It was originally included to cover for the possibility of a release failing. If we are releasing commits from the past after they have been tested, this should not be an issue anymore. If the docs generation were part of the synchronous release step, it would have direct access to the correct release notes without having to walk down the git history.

However, I think it is more prudent to keep this change as a future step, after we're confident the new release scheme does indeed produce much more reliable "stable" releases.

New release process

Just like releases are currently controlled mostly by detecting changes to the VERSION file, the new process will be controlled by detecting changes to the LATEST file. The format of that file will include both the version string and the corresponding SHA.

Upon detecting a change to the LATEST file, CI will run the entire release process, just like it does now with the VERSION file. The main differences are:

  1. Before running the release step, CI will checkout the commit specified in the LATEST file. This requires separating the release step from the build step, which in my opinion is cleaner anyway.
  2. The //:VERSION Bazel target is replaced by a repository rule that gets the version to build from an environment variable, with a default of 0.0.0 to remain consistent with the current daml-head behaviour.

Some of the manual steps will need to be skipped for a snapshot release. See amended release/RELEASE.md in this commit for details.

The main caveat of this approach is that the official release will be a different binary from the corresponding snapshot. It will have been built from the same source, but with a different version string. This is somewhat mitigated by Bazel caching, meaning any build step that does not depend on the version string should use the cache and produce identical results. I do not think this can be avoided when our artifact includes its own version number.

I must note, though, that while going through the changes required after removing the VERSION file, I have been quite surprised at the sheer number of things that actually depend on the SDK version number. I believe we should look into reducing that over time.

Includes today's interval training.

FWIW, I had enough discomfort and swelling in my right foot yesterday that I was mentally running around in circles as to whether I should do my interval training today. I'm very glad I did it. I am pretty darn sure I don't have a stress fracture--which is the exact same conclusion I had after finishing King of the Hill--because I would be in a lot of pain if I did have a stress fracture and I did the training I just did.

I do have more discomfort now, an hour after finishing, than when I woke up this morning, but that's to be expected, because the question wasn't whether or not I have some sort of injury, but whether or not it's a stress fracture (or anything else where pack running would make things significantly worse).

I fully expect to not be 100% recovered by Wednesday but to do my speed run anyway. I might be fully recovered by BMDM, but even if I'm not, I don't think foot discomfort will be my limiting factor. I think my relative lack of fitness and perhaps my complete lack of heat training will be the things that hold me back.

Monday 2020-03-09 15:02:07 by Clifford T. Matthews

Includes today's 1/4 taper intervals.

Right foot swelling and discomfort are mentally taxing but are probably not holding me back significantly. Basically I just need to trust my plan and also not do anything stupid. Luckily, I made enough mistakes last year that there's tons of low-hanging fruit to pick up:

Don't use an old pack that might break during the run

Low fiber protocol the day before

Have my pack completely ready the night before

Plan on leaving the parking lot at 4am, regardless

Don't futz around race morning; if the Team RWB group photo doesn't work out, so be it

Don't count on using the porta potties after getting out of our pens, but before the start

All of the above should speed me up. My relative lack of fitness and perhaps my right foot should slow me down. The heat will also slow me down, but that will slow everyone down.

serial: core: Allow processing sysrq at port unlock time

[ Upstream commit d6e1935819db0c91ce4a5af82466f3ab50d17346 ]

Right now serial drivers process sysrq keys deep in their character receiving code. This means that they've already grabbed their port->lock spinlock. This can end up getting in the way if we've go to do serial stuff (especially kgdb) in response to the sysrq.

Serial drivers have various hacks in them to handle this. Looking at '8250_port.c' you can see that the console_write() skips locking if we're in the sysrq handler. Looking at 'msm_serial.c' you can see that the port lock is dropped around uart_handle_sysrq_char().

It turns out that these hacks aren't exactly perfect. If you have lockdep turned on and use something like the 8250_port hack you'll get a splat that looks like:

WARNING: possible circular locking dependency detected [...] is trying to acquire lock: ... (console_owner){-.-.}, at: console_unlock+0x2e0/0x5e4

but task is already holding lock: ... (&port_lock_key){-.-.}, at: serial8250_handle_irq+0x30/0xe4

which lock already depends on the new lock.

the existing dependency chain (in reverse order) is:

-> #1 (&port_lock_key){-.-.}: _raw_spin_lock_irqsave+0x58/0x70 serial8250_console_write+0xa8/0x250 univ8250_console_write+0x40/0x4c console_unlock+0x528/0x5e4 register_console+0x2c4/0x3b0 uart_add_one_port+0x350/0x478 serial8250_register_8250_port+0x350/0x3a8 dw8250_probe+0x67c/0x754 platform_drv_probe+0x58/0xa4 really_probe+0x150/0x294 driver_probe_device+0xac/0xe8 __driver_attach+0x98/0xd0 bus_for_each_dev+0x84/0xc8 driver_attach+0x2c/0x34 bus_add_driver+0xf0/0x1ec driver_register+0xb4/0x100 __platform_driver_register+0x60/0x6c dw8250_platform_driver_init+0x20/0x28 ...

other info that might help us debug this:

Possible unsafe locking scenario:

     CPU0 CPU1
     ---- ----
lock(&port_lock_key);
                             lock(console_owner);
                             lock(&port_lock_key);
lock(console_owner);

*** DEADLOCK ***

The hack used in 'msm_serial.c' doesn't cause the above splats but it seems a bit ugly to unlock / lock our spinlock deep in our irq handler.

It seems like we could defer processing the sysrq until the end of the interrupt handler right after we've unlocked the port. With this scheme if a whole batch of sysrq characters comes in one irq then we won't handle them all, but that seems like it should be a fine compromise.

Gives the Deff research outpost some love. (#25963)

  • Gives the Deff research outpost some love.

Just cleans the entire place up, honestly:

Adds missing vents/air alarms/firelocks/light switches/vents all over the place. Changed a lot of flooring so it's not so monotonous. Fixed placement of signs and added a few new ones like no smoking. Gave it an N2 gas miner and fixed the distro setup so distro is actually pressurized correctly. Added a bunch of windows and other details. Made the airlock use two high-volume DP vents so it cycles way faster. It also connects to the distro/scrubbers lines now instead of a canister. Added a cell charger & spare high-cap cell to expedition preparation. Added PACMANs to the solars room. The solars aren't actually set up by default so the outpost will lose power after ~1 hour of in-game time. Having PACMANs to bootstrap the thing when it goes down should be cool. Added more lattices to the solar array so it looks cooler. Made a bunch of the rock around the thing not capable fo spawning ores so no gibtonite next to the gas miner. Medbay area now has deff-style dark flooring and also more medikits. Re-organized a couple rooms like expedition preparation and long-term storage. Probably more stuff I'm forgetting. Replaced the waste vent pump with a passive vent.

Fixes #25960

  • Fixes

Fix atmos setup. Swap fire closet and potted plant in arrivals area.

clh: update to v0.5.0

Changes:

Virtual Machine Dynamic Resizing With 0.4.0 we added support for CPU hot plug, and 0.5.0 adds CPU hot unplug and memory hot plug as well. This allows to dynamically resize Cloud Hypervisor guests which is needed for e.g. Kubernetes related use cases. The memory hot plug implementation is based on the same framework as the CPU hot plug/unplug one, i.e. hardware-reduced ACPI notifications to the guest.

Next on our VM resizing roadmap is the PCI devices hotplug feature.

Multi-Queue, Multi-Threaded Paravirtualization We enhanced our virtio networking and block support by having both devices use multiple I/O queues handled by multiple threads. This improves our default paravirtualized networking and block devices throughput.

New Interrupt Management Framework We improved our interrupt management implementation by introducing an Interrupt Manager framework, based on the currently on-going rust-vmm vm-device crates discussions. This move made the code significantly cleaner, and allowed us to remove several KVM related dependencies from crates like the PCI and virtio ones.

Development Tools In order to provide a better developer experience, we worked on improving our build, development and testing tools. Somehow similar to the excellent Firecracker's devtool, we now provide a dev_cli script.

With this new tool, our users and contributors will be able to build and test Cloud Hypervisor through a containerized environment.

Kata Containers Integration We spent some significant time and efforts debugging and fixing our integration with the Kata Containers project. Cloud Hypervisor is now a fully supported Kata Containers hypervisor, and is integrated into the project's CI.

Updated to match workshop.

Adds a Vanguard Grenade launcher in the Sidearm slot. Litterally the same as the Cadian one except the animation is wierd. Increased the armor value for the Patrol and Officer Caps to be the same as the Vanguard Helmet. Vanguard Medicae Flak Armor now has a simple retexture that isn't working properely. Fuck you BI. Error message from when you opened your inventory while a invisible armor was equiped has now been fixed. Adds a Vanguard Lucius Pattern Grenade launcher in the Sidearm slot. Litterally the same as the Krieg one except the animation is wierd. Adds a Vanguard Meltagun in the Sidearm slot. Litterally the same as the Imperium one except the animation is wierd. Buffs the 60mm grenades for the (Both Vanguard and Imperium)Lucius Pattern Grenade launcher and adds ace shrapnel to it. Probably something else I forgot about.

Improvements to spell mechanics

  • Removed the feature where learning Arcane Blessings overrides the relevent Magic Sign, while retaining the feature where it displaces Sanguine Marks. While this will clutter up the mutation and spell menus a bit more, it enables a fuckton of features I previously couldn't utilize due to how finicky this mechanic was.
  • Set pattern scrolls to grant the exact specific trait being targeted via MUTATE_TRAIT, instead of pinging a custom category. While this allows me to remove all those annoying one-note mutation categories and makes pattern scrolls actually work 100% of the time instead of sometimes randomly failing, by far the BIGGEST benefit to this is that using the same pattern scroll more than once will trigger a levelup of that spell (since the mutation grants the target spell at level 1), meaning going through the expense of crafting more pattern scrolls can be used to sidestep the tediousness of having to grind EXP via casting. This helps with solidifying the intended balance where it's easier to max out Magic Signs, but Arcane Blessings are more powerful when maxed out.
  • Shaved max level of Sanguine Marks down to 5 and tweaked their effect scaling accordingly, since they're still the only spells that lack any good way to quickly gain experience.
  • Gave some of the major NPCs a selection of spells they can teach. This feature isn't yet complete however.

The personality of an individual influences his thoughts, emotions and behaviors in different situations. The personality studies can be applied in different domains such as in education, in medicine, in company management, and in consumer research, in order to provide a suitable environment for individuals with different personalities. This first year master thesis consists of the personality detection in human-robot interaction(HRI), based on Nass’s postulate that the human communicates with a machine in the same way that with another human.

In the first part of the thesis, we present the context of the personality detection, the existent personality theories and models as well as the current study of personality detection in the field of natural language processing. In the second part, we explain how we conduct the HRI experience, including the conversational system design, selection of participants, the multimodal information collecting, the personality questionnaire design, and the collection of participant’s feedback. The third part describe the processing of multimodal data obtained in the HRI experience, including the annotation of conversational strategies in the text data, the annotation of visual signals (facial expressions, gestures, posture, body and eye movement), the extraction of prosodic, spectral and voice quality features for speech emotion recognition, the features and classifiers(Random Forest, SVM, Decision Tree, Naive Bayes, KNN, k-means) selection and fusion of the multiple modalities using feature-level fusion. In the last part of the thesis, we indicate what points need to be improved in our approche, and the perspective of the personality detection in HRI.
