Kills research scanner toggle, moves functionality to examine_more. Improves research scanner code and fixes a modsuit bug. (#66415)
- FINALLY. I'VE KILLED IT. I CAN LIVE MY LIFE NOW.
I hate the fucking Toggle Research Scanner action button so god damn much. Why the fuck would I ever not want this to be on? Why do you think I'm wearing the fucking goggles? That stupid button is so annoying to use. Even if I'm NOT using the research scanner aspect of the goggles, that little shit floats there, taking up space on my screen, taunting me.

Modular Tablets: Converting PDAs to the NtOS System (#65755)
Converts PDA functions and applications over to modular tablets and devices, namely the messaging function. HREF data code is quite honestly clunky and difficult to work with, as I've definitely experienced whilst working on this. By moving from this system over the easier to read (and frankly, easier to add to) TGUI system, you get cleaner looking and more user friendly UIs and a greater degree of standardization amongst other UIs.

[MIRROR] Fixes bartender drink throwing, makes smashing always spill [MDB IGNORE] (#12326)
- Fixes bartender drink throwing, makes smashing always spill (#65698)
Tohg's initial pr (9c0b0e5d4cc236e365ef0229400cefe98b184964) was rather poorly argued and a bit misleading, but the actual changes were honestly kinda harmless. You could already have thrown beakers to splash shit on someone, it wasn't a big issue.
However it did end up breaking bartending, because it removed the ranged args that normally get passed into smash and SplashReagent.
I went in intending to fix that, but noticed some dumb copypasta in broken bottle code, and decided to just start from there.
I've moved that logic to a proc on the broken bottle, and made smashing a bottle on something splash its contents too.
I can't think of a case where you wouldn't want this, so I'ma just go for it. Prevents future mistakes like this too.
Oh and because I'm passing ranged in properly now, splashing will not always splash the whole amount of the bottle's reagents. Doubt that really matters tho.
Love ya bestie

NukeOps Firebase Rework (#66149)
Attention Recruit: Welcome to Firebase Balthazord Here you will lean how to: -Kill corpo scum -Kill corpo scum -Kill corpo scu-
This has been on my docket for months. Ever since gave the Holding Facility a much needed facelift. I have been eyeballing the nukie base, waiting for that stroke of inspiration to hit me. It finally did. Gone are the aging walls of the old encampment. Nukies finally have what well-funded corpo-terrorists always dream of- a home.
It's more than a Home. This is a sweeping rework that is part of a series of reworks to revisit old locations and not only bring them up to date with our current asset roster, but to make them properly belong within the game world. The Nuke-Ops base may ultimately be a tiny chunk of the overall SS13 experience, but I'll be damned if it isn't a defining one. It's also a location that has the capacity to do one thing that I have always wanted to do. Purchase Property. You heard me right, you get to buy rooms now. The newly expanded Nuke-Ops base features, with @Mothblocks blessing, further expansions that you can purchase from your local Syndicate Uplink. Spend your TC, expand your capabilities, and utilize your expertise in order to create the most mind-boggling disky heists there are.
Possible expansions to your terrorism suite include: -Ordinance Lab -Bio-Terrorism Lab -Chemical Manufacturing Plant
Definite expansions to your Nuke-Ops Firebase include: -Crew Bunks -Lab Wing -War Table -Upgraded "Disembarkment" Bay"
Updates The Derelict to some modern standards, also some turf edits (#66045)
Brings The Derelict up to speed with some of our new mapping tools and stuff. This also places nearstation turf in certain areas, as well as general turf clean up. Also cleans up the absurdly placed black holes of light that were over space tiles. Girder/Grill spawners were placed in certain locations (mostly on external girlls). I also remapped the main AI chambers SMES power to not go through the fucking wall, as a trade off, its no longer wired round start, and the two pieces of cable that are automatically in the room have been swapped out for two (2) five cables each. Its not enough to reach the main area, but god fuck wires running through walls.
As an aside, some of plating on the outside, walls include, does look weird being full bright like this. I'm neutral for the most part. Theres a weird fine balance that needs to be maintained with some of the areas being open to space, I've opted to keep lattice as nearstation and any thing plating and above as turfed (excluding plating that is solely in space).
I'll be redoing the turfs of this later, sprite wise.

tgui: API improvements + docs (#65943)
About The Pull Request
This pull request improves tgui API in many ways.
Using TGUI for custom HTML popups
This standardizes and simplifies the process of HTML popup creation and DM <-> JS communication.
Makes tgui window API a perfect alternative for old-style browser panels. It will be super useful for @Iamgoofball since he wanted to make a lightweight browser element that plays background music, and this will make his life a lot easier.
It is now possible to create tgui windows with fully inlined JS and CSS, which can be used to make unkillable tgui-based UIs (can't white/blue screen due to network errors). You can split files into JS and CSS, and still serve a single HTML file using this.
Moved sendMessage function to the Byond API object, where it rightfully belongs, and now supports a shorthand form: Byond.sendMessage(type, payload). This shortens and simplifies a lot of code.
Refactored window.update to no longer be public. Now to subscribe to incoming messages, you should use new public APIs: Byond.subscribe(fn) and Byond.subscribeTo(type, fn), and TGUI internally uses these functions as well, which reduces boilerplate in index.js.
Renamed window.windowId to Byond.windowId (old variable is still available for backwards compatibility).
Byond API now supports null id, e.g. Byond.winget(null, 'url'), which makes things like this possible:
// Fetch URL of a currently connected server Byond.winget(null, 'url').then((serverUrl) => { // Connect to this server (opens a new dreamseeker instance) Byond.call(serverUrl); // Close this client because new instance is connecting Byond.command('.quit'); });
Certain polyfills are now statically compiled (commited into git) and are baked into tgui.html. The downside is that HTML went 16 kB -> 50 kB. The upside is that you can now use a relatively modern level API with full support for IE8 when writing plain old html UIs using /datum/tgui_window directly. They are committed into git, because polyfills will never need to be updated (unless of course we randomly decide to get rid of ie8.js and html5shiv.js). Breaking Changes
No breaking changes. This should be tested for regressions. Upgrading is simple if you're on a relatively up-to-date branch - copy paste all affected tgui files and you're good.

Adds VR Snowdin and VRHub to the Map Depot
Hey there,
Look at how soulful these maps once were:
Actually, no, I'm sorry. I can't take myself seriously! This shit fucking sucked! I'm adding it here as a cautionary tale for those who long for the days of VR. I included the entire last-working commit hash because these maps last worked on unadulterated 2019 shitcode and I don't want anyone screwing it up.
Every single trace of VR Code was purged from the repository after the given base commit, so literally none of this will work on any modern code without a lot of work. If you want to modernize this, I hope you're prepared to instantly runtime, shit, and die.

Updates SC_CHANGEUNDEAD behavior (#6867)
- Fixes #6834.
- Versus Players
- Animation will be properly displayed for Blessing/Increase Agility when the target has Change Undead active (buffs are not applied even though animation is displayed).
- Target can no longer be killed through the single damage applied by Blessing/Increase Agility and Change Undead.
- If the target has Curse and Stone active, only Curse is removed by Blessing first (buffs are not applied).
- Shadow or Undead armor have no impact on Blessing or Increase Agility at all.
- Versus Monsters
- Blessing is applied normally to the target as long as it's not an Undead element or Demon race.
- Blessing does not cancel out Curse or Stone. Thanks to @Playtester!

munin-pihole-plugins: more output and formatting changes
somewhat of an extension of 43d9294
Changes to be committed:
- modified: script/munin-pihole-plugins bump version to 05.12.00 more colour in output (highlight commands that were not found in red) offset reverberate output (add a two character offset from the terminal edge) find a use for reverberate's fallthrough case (this ended up working out nicely with additional output) (more work that ideally shouldn't ever be seen) (this lets us format both code and its resulting output better) fix formatting in warning when script dir isn't in $PATH (the suggested output didn't need bracing) (seems we found a flaw with shellcheck's parsing) (said flaw was accidentally fixed splitting a multi-line echo) (as always, fuck you, shellcheck)

add hypercopyrighted end crystal beam texture
This texture has the following poem written by me, cora, encoded in its pixeldata. I the author hereby release both the texture file and the poem as cc0.
Additionally I explicitly consent with its inclusion into MineClone2, MineClone5 and Mineclonia as well as any other minetest game for this day and all the days to come.
Shall though betray me with a texture, mate I'll smile at though just like a summer's day The raindrop particles - no laggy state But spring is coming, really, soon it's may
As If the seasons meant a damn to us They do not exist in mineclone at all unreal water flow, iron never rusts but copper does in summer and in fall
But what this literally is about because this damn thing is really silly you see somehow they had to say it loud
I would bring that quote with painting lilys but plagerism everywhere you see so this will just be good enough for me

sched/core: Fix ttwu() race
Paul reported rcutorture occasionally hitting a NULL deref:
sched_ttwu_pending() ttwu_do_wakeup() check_preempt_curr() := check_preempt_wakeup() find_matching_se() is_same_group() if (se->cfs_rq == pse->cfs_rq) <-- BOOM
Debugging showed that this only appears to happen when we take the new code-path from commit:
2ebb17717550 ("sched/core: Offload wakee task activation if it the wakee is descheduling")
and only when @cpu == smp_processor_id(). Something which should not be possible, because p->on_cpu can only be true for remote tasks. Similarly, without the new code-path from commit:
c6e7bd7afaeb ("sched/core: Optimize ttwu() spinning on p->on_cpu")
this would've unconditionally hit:
smp_cond_load_acquire(&p->on_cpu, !VAL);
and if: 'cpu == smp_processor_id() && p->on_cpu' is possible, this would result in an instant live-lock (with IRQs disabled), something that hasn't been reported.
The NULL deref can be explained however if the task_cpu(p) load at the beginning of try_to_wake_up() returns an old value, and this old value happens to be smp_processor_id(). Further assume that the p->on_cpu load accurately returns 1, it really is still running, just not here.
Then, when we enqueue the task locally, we can crash in exactly the observed manner because p->se.cfs_rq != rq->cfs_rq, because p's cfs_rq is from the wrong CPU, therefore we'll iterate into the non-existant parents and NULL deref.
The closest semi-plausible scenario I've managed to contrive is somewhat elaborate (then again, actual reproduction takes many CPU hours of rcutorture, so it can't be anything obvious):
X->cpu = 1
rq(1)->curr = X
CPU0 CPU1 CPU2
// switch away from X
LOCK rq(1)->lock
smp_mb__after_spinlock
dequeue_task(X)
X->on_rq = 9
switch_to(Z)
X->on_cpu = 0
UNLOCK rq(1)->lock
// migrate X to cpu 0
LOCK rq(1)->lock
dequeue_task(X)
set_task_cpu(X, 0)
X->cpu = 0
UNLOCK rq(1)->lock
LOCK rq(0)->lock
enqueue_task(X)
X->on_rq = 1
UNLOCK rq(0)->lock
// switch to X
LOCK rq(0)->lock
smp_mb__after_spinlock
switch_to(X)
X->on_cpu = 1
UNLOCK rq(0)->lock
// X goes sleep
X->state = TASK_UNINTERRUPTIBLE
smp_mb(); // wake X
ttwu()
LOCK X->pi_lock
smp_mb__after_spinlock
if (p->state)
cpu = X->cpu; // =? 1
smp_rmb()
// X calls schedule()
LOCK rq(0)->lock
smp_mb__after_spinlock
dequeue_task(X)
X->on_rq = 0
if (p->on_rq)
smp_rmb();
if (p->on_cpu && ttwu_queue_wakelist(..)) [*]
smp_cond_load_acquire(&p->on_cpu, !VAL)
cpu = select_task_rq(X, X->wake_cpu, ...)
if (X->cpu != cpu)
switch_to(Y)
X->on_cpu = 0
UNLOCK rq(0)->lock
However I'm having trouble convincing myself that's actually possible on x86_64 -- after all, every LOCK implies an smp_mb() there, so if ttwu observes ->state != RUNNING, it must also observe ->cpu != 1.
(Most of the previous ttwu() races were found on very large PowerPC)
Nevertheless, this fully explains the observed failure case.
Fix it by ordering the task_cpu(p) load after the p->on_cpu load, which is easy since nothing actually uses @cpu before this.

gdb/python: improve the auto help text for gdb.Parameter
This commit attempts to improve the help text that is generated for gdb.Parameter objects when the user fails to provide their own documentation.
Documentation for a gdb.Parameter is currently pulled from two sources: the class documentation string, and the set_doc/show_doc class attributes. Thus, a fully documented parameter might look like this:
class Param_All (gdb.Parameter): """This is the class documentation string."""
show_doc = "Show the state of this parameter"
set_doc = "Set the state of this parameter"
def get_set_string (self):
val = "on"
if (self.value == False):
val = "off"
return "Test Parameter has been set to " + val
def __init__ (self, name):
super (Param_All, self).__init__ (name, gdb.COMMAND_DATA, gdb.PARAM_BOOLEAN)
self._value = True
Param_All ('param-all')
Then in GDB we see this:
(gdb) help set param-all Set the state of this parameter This is the class documentation string.
Which is fine. But, if the user skips both of the documentation parts like this:
class Param_None (gdb.Parameter):
def get_set_string (self):
val = "on"
if (self.value == False):
val = "off"
return "Test Parameter has been set to " + val
def __init__ (self, name):
super (Param_None, self).__init__ (name, gdb.COMMAND_DATA, gdb.PARAM_BOOLEAN)
self._value = True
Param_None ('param-none')
Now in GDB we see this:
(gdb) help set param-none This command is not documented. This command is not documented.
That's not great, the duplicated text looks a bit weird. If we drop different parts we get different results. Here's what we get if the user drops the set_doc and show_doc attributes:
(gdb) help set param-doc This command is not documented. This is the class documentation string.
That kind of sucks, we say it's undocumented, then proceed to print the documentation. Finally, if we drop the class documentation but keep the set_doc and show_doc:
(gdb) help set param-set-show Set the state of this parameter This command is not documented.
That seems OK.
So, I think there's room for improvement.
With this patch, for the four cases above we now see this:
(gdb) help set param-all Set the state of this parameter This is the class documentation string.
(gdb) help set param-none Set the current value of 'param-none'. This command is not documented.
(gdb) help set param-doc Set the current value of 'param-doc'. This is the class documentation string.
(gdb) help set param-set-show Set the state of this parameter This command is not documented.
The one place where this change might be considered a negative is when dealing with prefix commands. If we create a prefix command but don't supply the set_doc / show_doc strings, then this is what we saw before my patch:
(gdb) python Param_None ('print param-none') (gdb) help set print set print, set pr, set p Generic command for setting how things print.
List of set print subcommands:
... snip ... set print param-none -- This command is not documented. ... snip ...
And after my patch:
(gdb) python Param_None ('print param-none') (gdb) help set print set print, set pr, set p Generic command for setting how things print.
List of set print subcommands:
... snip ... set print param-none -- Set the current value of 'print param-none'. ... snip ...
This seems slightly less helpful than before, but I don't think its terrible.
Additionally, I've changed what we print when the get_show_string method is not provided in Python.
Back when gdb.Parameter was first added to GDB, we didn't provide a show function when registering the internal command object within GDB. As a result, GDB would make use of its "magic" mangling of the show_doc string to create a sentence that would display the current value (see deprecated_show_value_hack in cli/cli-setshow.c).
However, when we added support for the get_show_string method to gdb.Parameter, there was an attempt to maintain backward compatibility by displaying the show_doc string with the current value appended, see get_show_value in py-param.c. Unfortunately, this isn't anywhere close to what deprecated_show_value_hack does, and the results are pretty poor, for example, this is GDB before my patch:
(gdb) show param-none This command is not documented. off
I think we can all agree that this is pretty bad.
After my patch, we how show this:
(gdb) show param-none The current value of 'param-none' is "off".
Which at least is a real sentence, even if it's not very informative.
This patch does change the way that the Python API behaves slightly, but only in the cases when the user has missed providing GDB with some information. In most cases I think the new behaviour is a lot better, there's the one case (noted above) which is a bit iffy, but I think is still OK.
I've updated the existing gdb.python/py-parameter.exp test to cover the modified behaviour.
Finally, I've updated the documentation to (I hope) make it clearer how the various bits of help text come together.
gdb/python: handle non utf-8 characters when source highlighting
This commit adds support for source files that contain non utf-8 characters when performing source styling using the Python pygments package. This does not change the behaviour of GDB when the GNU Source Highlight library is used.
For the following problem description, assume that either GDB is built without GNU Source Highlight support, of that this has been disabled using 'maintenance set gnu-source-highlight enabled off'.
The initial problem reported was that a source file containing non utf-8 characters would cause GDB to print a Python exception, and then display the source without styling, e.g.:
Python Exception <class 'UnicodeDecodeError'>: 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0xc0 in position 142: invalid start byte /* Source code here, without styling... */
Further, as the user steps through different source files, each time the problematic source file was evicted from the source cache, and then later reloaded, the exception would be printed again.
Finally, this problem is only present when using Python 3, this issue is not present for Python 2.
What makes this especially frustrating is that GDB can clearly print the source file contents, they're right there... If we disable styling completely, or make use of the GNU Source Highlight library, then everything is fine. So why is there an error when we try to apply styling using Python?
The problem is the use of PyString_FromString (which is an alias for PyUnicode_FromString in Python 3), this function converts a C string into a either a Unicode object (Py3) or a str object (Py2). For Python 2 there is no unicode encoding performed during this function call, but for Python 3 the input is assumed to be a uft-8 encoding string for the purpose of the conversion. And here of course, is the problem, if the source file contains non utf-8 characters, then it should not be treated as utf-8, but that's what we do, and that's why we get an error.
My first thought when looking at this was to spot when the PyString_FromString call failed with a UnicodeDecodeError and silently ignore the error. This would mean that GDB would print the source without styling, but would also avoid the annoying exception message.
However, I also make use of pygmentize
, a command line wrapper
around the Python pygments module, which I use to apply syntax
highlighting in the output of less
. And this command line wrapper
is quite happy to syntax highlight my source file that contains non
utf-8 characters, so it feels like the problem should be solvable.
It turns out that inside the pygments module there is already support
for guessing the encoding of the incoming file content, if the
incoming content is not already a Unicode string. This is what
happens for Python 2 where the incoming content is of str
type.
We could try and make GDB smarter when it comes to converting C strings into Python Unicode objects; this would probably require us to just try a couple of different encoding schemes rather than just giving up after utf-8.
However, I figure, why bother? The pygments module already does this for us, and the colorize API is not part of the documented external API of GDB. So, why not just change the colorize API, instead of the content being a Unicode string (for Python 3), lets just make the content be a bytes object. The pygments module can then take responsibility for guessing the encoding.
So, currently, the colorize API receives a unicode object, and returns a unicode object. I propose that the colorize API receive a bytes object, and return a bytes object.

magit-section-context-menu: Support non-section branches
We use section keymaps to implement context-sensitive menus but branches are not always represented using sections. To support such "painted branches" anyway use fake sections, which closely mirror the commit section in which the click occurred.
This admittedly is ugly and somewhat risky, but seems to work well. `magit-section-update-highlight' would break due to this hack, so we avoid calling it. If it turns out that things also break due to this kludge, then we might have to revert.
Almost halves airlock auto close delay (#65349)
We go from a delay of 15 seconds, to 8.
This has cheesed me off for a long time. Airlocks should lock, not just stay open for a quarter of a minute.
This'll help with excited groups that stay permenantly connected at highpop because of a slowed ssair and doors opening and closing constantly
Also effects door chasing. I'm honestly just kinda eyeballing this, it might be a bit much. Even if this goes through could totally be tweaked
Even if this is too low, 15 is way too damn high.
Hidden gestural bar: fix visual glitches when switching states
hacky way but it works (TODO: find a proper fix in the new year, i don't have motivation to dig into navbar/keyguard code fuckery now lol)
setting the height to 1px keeps the navbar almost invisible but fixes the annoying visual glitches when going from screen off to ambient pulsing or lockscreen (more noticeable on some devices like bonito) to replicate the issue without this commit:
- screen ON, then screen off, then double tap to go to ambient, then double tap to go to lockscreen, then double tap to switch screen off, then switch screen on again
- or just switch screen off/on a few times with the power button
Also sync the hide pill code with Pulse hide pill feature

feat: Implement QBCore.Shared.VehicleHashs
Describe Pull request Indexs the vehicles jenkins joaat(Hash) value as the key of the table as the key so we dont have to do some shitty ass loop through the vehicles comparing joaat values. I have no clue why this secondary table was removed in the first place if I had to guess people were lazy but this should help the lazys by automatically filling the table.

A deacon reached out to me via email to note that suicidal thoughts are not in themself sinful (though could be a sign of depression, anxiety, or other mental illness and might still require help). As such, we should update the text to read simply,
Did I attempt suicide?

disp: msm: Handle dim for udfps
-
Apparently, los fod impl is better than udfps cuz it has onShow/HideFodView hook, which allows us to toggle dimlayer seamlessly.
Since udfps only partially supports the former one, we'd better kill dim in kernel. This is kinda a hack but it works well, bringing perfect fod experience back to us.

avoid using @sync_add
on remotecalls (#44671)
- avoid using
@sync_add
on remotecalls
It seems like @sync_add adds the Futures to a queue (Channel) for @sync, which in turn calls wait() for all the futures synchronously. Not only that is slightly detrimental for network operations (latencies add up), but in case of Distributed the call to wait() may actually cause some compilation on remote processes, which is also wait()ed for. In result, some operations took a great amount of "serial" processing time if executed on many workers at once.
For me, this closes #44645.
The major change can be illustrated as follows: First add some workers:
using Distributed
addprocs(10)
and then trigger something that, for example, causes package imports on the workers:
using SomeTinyPackage
In my case (importing UnicodePlots on 10 workers), this improves the loading time over 10 workers from ~11s to ~5.5s.
This is a far bigger issue when worker count gets high. The time of the
processing on each worker is usually around 0.3s, so triggering this problem
even on a relatively small cluster (64 workers) causes a really annoying delay,
and running @everywhere
for the first time on reasonable clusters (I tested
with 1024 workers, see #44645) usually takes more than 5 minutes. Which sucks.
Anyway, on 64 workers this reduces the "first import" time from ~30s to ~6s, and on 1024 workers this seems to reduce the time from over 5 minutes (I didn't bother to measure that precisely now, sorry) to ~11s.
Related issues:
- Probably fixes #39291.
- #42156 is a kinda complementary -- it removes the most painful source of slowness (the 0.3s precompilation on the workers), but the fact that the wait()ing is serial remains a problem if the network latencies are high.
May help with #38931

Try to silently fall back to a local monarch (#12825)
This is a crazy idea Dustin and I had.
we can't repro this at will. But we kinda have an idea of where the deref is. We don't know if the small patch (throw, and try again) will fix it. We're sure that the "just fall back to an isolated monarch" will work. I'd almost rather take a build testing the small patch first, to see if that works
This might seem crazy in 1.12, isolated monarch. In 1.13, "small patch". In 1.14, we can wait and see
I can write more details in the morning. It's 5pm here so if we want this today, here it is.
@dhowett double check my velocity flag logic here. Should be always true for Release, and off for Dev, Preview.

Switch back to exclusive range
I'm actually going to go ahead and disagree with clippy on this one. Inclusive ranges are so rare in my experience compared to exclusive ranges that I do a bit of a double take when I see one, and have to think a lot more carefully about whether it actually does what I want. Frankly, I think this form makes it a lot more obvious at a glance that we're looking for a slice N bytes long offset by 1 from the start.
Disable meta device tests.
After discussion with Can Balioglu, we have concluded that pytorch/pytorch#53682 , while clever, is more trouble than it is worth. The main problem is that whenever someone adds support for new meta tensors, they then get dozens of new test case failures, because tests that were previously halted by lack of support for an operator on meta tensors, now have gotten further and hit some logic which expects to be able to, e.g., pull out a real value from a tensor (which clearly doesn't work). This is very annoying and time consuming! Most of these tests aren't written with meta device in mind, and it's not a good use of time to try to make them more generic.
The plan on record is to switch meta testing to OpInfo, but that patch will take some time to prepare for now I want to stem the bleeding. I don't think we're at high risk for regressions here because meta tensors mostly share logic with their regular brethren.
