OpenDash can be built in three different environments.
Linux
-----
Let's do the easiest first, shall we? You need to have installed the following libraries:
- SDL (it and the two below found at http://www.libsdl.org)
- SDL_image (and requisites)
- SDL_ttf (and requisites)
- libxml2 (found at http://www.xmlsoft.org)
Ensure that both sdl-config and xml2-config exist and are in your current path. Then enter the ./src directory and execute:
make -f makefile.linux
It should generate the binary file OpenDash. Now read RUNNING.txt to figure out why it is segfaulting :).
Xbox
----
The real goal of this exercise, after all. You need:
- OpenXDK from recent (post 11/11/05) CVS. Anything else will probably fail to either build or run, and even if it works it will not be as stable.
- On top of this, you need libxml2 for xbox. For now, get the entire source release for xbox: http://th0mas.xbox-scene.com/releases/libx...2.6.17-xbox.tgz
untar that, enter the directory and execute "make -f Makefile.xbox"
it should generate libxml2.a, copy it to /usr/local/openxdk/lib
and copy the libxml2-2.6.17/include/* to /usr/local/openxdk/include
(so you should have a directory /usr/local/openxdk/include/libxml2 that contains the majority of the include files)
- With the libxml2.a file in your openxdk lib/ directory and the libxml/ directory in your openxdk include directory, you are now ready to build OpenDash for the xbox. With the i386-pc-xbox-* binaries (or links) in your PATH, enter the OpenDash/src directory and run:
make
(or, if you've already built the linux version), make clean all
It should build. If not post a message on the xbox-scene OpenDash forum. Before trying to run on the xbox please read "RUNNING.txt" to know where to put what, etc.
Windows
-------
Get Mingw32 and MSYS. Install binary distributions of:
- SDL
- SDL_image
- SDL_ttf
- libxml2
using the MSYS command line. Get a copy of OpenDash source from CVS. In an MSYS shell, enter the OpenDash directory and run:
make -f makefile.windows.
YMMV. I had to reinstall and try different versions of the windows libraries before I could get this to work.
As much as I'd like to help you get it working with windows, this is really not my primary goal. That being said, post a message and worst case scenario, I will rar my entire MSYS directory and send it to you.
