INTRODUCTION *jb-introduction*
I've always been a fan of JetBrains IDEs, and since moving to Vim I
haven't yet been able to find a colorscheme that made me feel as at
home as I did with the JetBrains themes. So I decided to attempt to
port the colorschemes as best I could to Vim.
The default colorscheme is based on JetBrains' 'Dark' theme (not
darcula), but for those that like a light theme the 'Light' theme is
also available.
I also made a version of the dark theme with a slightly lighter
background for those who want the dark feel but don't like the near-
black background.
Features~
- Color-accurate port of JetBrains' 'Dark' and 'Light' themes
- Support for 256-color terminals
- Three theme variants, customizable to taste
- Support for common file types and plugins
- Italic support

INSTALLATION *jb-installation*
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Using a plugin manager~
Vim Plug:
>
Plug 'devsjc/jb.vim'
<
For better syntax highlighting, also install
https://github.com/sheerun/vim-polyglot
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vim8 Packages~
1. Create a new directory: `$ mkdir -p ~/.vim/pack/colors/opt`
2. Clone this repository: `$ git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/devsjc/vim-jb.git ~/.vim/pack/colors/opt/vim-jb`
3. Generate help tags: `:helptags ~/.vim/pack/colors/opt/vim-jb/doc/`
4. Add `packadd! vim-jb` to your vimrc.
Note: If you install this color scheme to `pack/*/start`, you still need to add `packadd! vim-jb` to your vimrc.
See[sainnhe/gruvbox-material#60](https://github.com/sainnhe/gruvbox-material/issues/60)
==============================================================================
USAGE *jb-usage*
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vim~
To use the colorscheme, simply add the following to your vimrc:
>
if has('termguicolors')
set termguicolors
endif
colorscheme jb
<
If you want to modify the theme or configuration, do so before the
`colorscheme jb` line:
>
let g:jb_style = 'light'
let g:jb_enable_italic = 1
colorscheme jb
<
For more information on configuration, see |jb-configuration|.
==============================================================================
CONFIGURATION *jb-configuration*
Note: All configuration options must be set before `colorscheme jb`
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
g:jb_style~ *g:jb_style*
The style of the theme to use.
Type: |String|
Options: 'dark', 'light', 'mid'
Default: 'dark'
Example:
>
let g:jb_style = 'light'
<
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
g:jb_enable_italic~ *g:jb_enable_italic*
Whether to use italics for certain syntax elements. Not all terminals support
italics, so this option is disabled by default.
Type: |Number|
Options: 0, 1
Default: 0
Example:
>
let g:jb_enable_italic = 1
<
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
g:jb_enable_unicode~ g:jb_enable_unicode
Whether to use unicode box seperators for certain visual elements. Not all
terminals/fonts support unicode, so this is disabled by default.
Type: Number
Options: 0, 1
Default: 0
Example:
let g:jb_enable_unicode = 1
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
g:jb_color_overrides~ *g:jb_color_overrides*
A dictionary of color overrides for the theme. Each entry should look like
`'CATEGORY': {'gui': '#HEX-COLOR-CODE', 'cterm': 256-COLOR-CODE }`.
Type: |Dictionary|
Default: {}
Example:
>
let g:jb_color_overrides = {
\ 'keyword': {'gui': '#ff0000', 'cterm': 160},
\ 'type': {'gui': '#00ff00', 'cterm': 46},
\ }
<
The available categories can be found in `/path/to/vim-jb/colors/palettes.json`.

FAQ *jb-faq*
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The colors don't match those in the screenshots.~
1. This color scheme is mainly designed for true colors, `set termguicolors`
is required. Check output of `vim --version`, to ensure your Vim supports
`termguicolors`.
2. Check that your terminal emulator supports true colors. See
[this test script](https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/404414/print-true-color-24-bit-test-pattern).
3. If you are running Vim in Tmux, you need to override default true colors of
Tmux, as Tmux cannot display true colors properly:
[#1246 How to use true colors in vim under tmux?](https://github.com/tmux/tmux/issues/1246)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The configuration options don't work.~
You should place them before `colorscheme jb`.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How can I change the highlight links without changing the palette?
You can also change highlight groups, overriding what is set in the plugin.
Say you prefer how Android Studio uses the `Type` colour for Kotlin
structures, instead of the less saturated `Keyword` of IntelliJ Idea.
Simply add the following overrides in an `augroup` in your `.vimrc`:
augroup JBHiglights
autocmd!
autocmd ColorScheme * highlight link ktStructure Type
augroup END
This must be placed in an `augroup` to prevent vim-jb from overriding it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What's the font used here?~
JetBrains Mono, of course! Download it [here](https://www.jetbrains.com/lp/mono/).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What's your status line configuration?~
I use [Mistfly](https://github.com/bluz71/vim-mistfly-statusline) with the
default configuration. See
[this blog post](https://medium.com/@devsjc/from-jetbrains-to-vim-a-modern-vim-configuration-and-plugin-set-d58472a7d53d)
for a deep dive into my whole Vim configuration.
