Manual pull-to-refresh animation appears on auto refresh

Describe the bug
When auto refresh is enabled, the manual pull-to-refresh animation briefly appears on every refresh

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Turn on auto refresh
2. Observe the animation appear on every auto refresh in the background

Expected behavior
The animation should appear on manual pull-to-refresh, but should not continually flash on the screen on every background auto refresh
