Update!

SWI-Prolog can now be installed directly from the termux official repositories.

Run this on the termux terminal:

pkg install swi-prolog

Older news

The sparkling new release version 8.1.3, with updated and faster tabling is available now for all termux architectures: arm, aarch64, i686 and x86_64.

SWI-Prolog on Android

This repository contains pre-built packages for SWI-Prolog on termux. When SWI-Prolog is officially added to termux we will delete this repository.

😁 Quick'n Easy start

  1. Install termux on your android device
  2. Start termux, and paste the following in the terminal:
pkg install curl
curl  https://raw.githubusercontent.com/erlanger/swipl-termux/master/install -sSf | sh
  1. Done! 🎉
  2. Now run it, typing this in the termux terminal:
$ swipl
Welcome to SWI-Prolog (threaded, 32 bits, version 7.7.25)
SWI-Prolog comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. This is free software.

The install script. does the following:

  1. Download the latest termux debian package from this repository
  2. Install this package on your device

🚧 Building it yourself

SWI-Prolog for android is built with the docker file used by termux to build packages.

The docker file will be downloaded automatically. SWI-Prolog library dependencies will also be downloaded automatically into the docker container.

Of course, you need to have docker and git installed.

To build the deb files yourself, do the following:

docker pull termux/package-builder
git clone https://github.com/termux/termux-packages
cd termux-packages
./scripts/run-docker.sh ./build-package.sh -a <arch> -f swi-prolog

Where <arch> is one of arm, aarch64, i686 or x86_64.

You should now have the .deb files in the debs directory.

💡 Future

Hopefully this repository will be deleted when the build of SWI-Prolog for Android is officially added to the termux package repositories. But it will be kept if termux decides to drop support for older (5.0+) android devices.
