"Brand Guide" information on recommended usage of the Grunt logo #234

Are you suggesting I contact Isaac about this? How do I do that? Contacting a github user doesn't appear to be straightforward. |
Hey @davidmichaelkarr! my message should create a notification for him. He will respond when he gets a moment :) |
Ah, ok. Newbie here. |
@cowboy do we have any legal statement about the logo usage? |
By the way: https://github.com/gulpjs/artwork . |
For reference: |
Okay, so I've edited the draft of the Brand Guide, and I've pushed forward a second draft: What should we add/change/remove from here? I have to admit, the page seems a little elaborate when compared to the simplicity of GitHub (which I love). Pinging everybody who contributed to the original thread: @isaacdurazo, @sindresorhus, @vladikoff, @Saturate, @cowboy, @DougReynolds |
This looks great @JKAussieSkater Thank you very much for helping with this! I can't think on anything we could add/remove. |
/cc @jorydotcom in case she has any specific comments about the "Legal" section! |
Should we have anything like "You're not allowed to sell anything with the Grunt logo without permission" ? |
@cowboy, let's assume a Grunt fan creates a Grunt T-shirt . . . But if they start selling Grunt T-shirts to other people . . . I have no opinion. |
@isaacdurazo, I'm really glad you appreciate my help! And thank YOU for creating it and the graphics in the first place! |
@JKAussieSkater Thanks for the updated docs. With regards to my particular use-case in the original discussion, I don't think it would have met the basic guidelines without submitting an issue ticket for approval. With that in mind, I think the docs are much clearer in describing how the logo may be used. |
https://gruntjs.com/grunt-brand-guide was redirecting to "/api" due to being trapped by the back-compat redirect for pages like /grunt.config and /grunt.log. Ref https://github.com/gruntjs/grunt-docs/issues/100.
The page is now up at https://gruntjs.com/grunt-brand-guide. It is not yet, however, linked from the sidebar, or indeed otherwise discoverable in any way. Should we add it to the "Community" section? That's where we've got the "Contributing", "Team", and "Badge" pages which seem most closely related. |
I hate to ask this, but it seems to be a reality in corporate environments that this needs to be asked.
The Grunt web site needs to have an explicit statement about whether the Grunt logo can be used, and under what limitations, if any.
I'm publishing some internal training presentations in my enterprise, and I have a feeling I'm going to be forced to remove the Grunt logo from all of them, unless I can convince the legal team that this is reasonable. Without a legal statement addressing the ability to reuse the logo, I'm relatively certain they're going to tell me to remove it.
