perfspect metrics does not exit cleanly when SIGINT sent to PID #200

This can occur when using a script to run perfspect metrics, e.g.,

nohup perfspect metrics > /dev/null 2>&1 &
echo $! > pidfile
sleep 10
kill -SIGINT $(cat pidfile)
