Hi,
I am new to Git & GitHub, but I like working in this way and am determined to make it a part of my routine! However, I keep running into a problem. When I am working on a project in RStudio and want to commit/push, there are a couple of persistent issues:

  1. the GUI method of checking boxes of files I want to stage, clicking the commit button, and the clicking the push button is very slow. I think that this may be because I had my data files stored on a cloud. I've tried moving data files into the respective repo, and this has helped some, but it still is by no means "speedy". For this, I am wondering if commit/push is faster with fewer changes? And/or if there is anything else that may explain the slowness.
  2. Because of the slowness described above, I've decided to add, commit, and push through the terminal. But, more than 50% of the time, when I try to open a terminal, RStudio gives me a pop-up message that states: "Terminal Creation Failure. The specified module could not be found." Sometimes, I will keep closing/reopening a terminal and it will eventually work. I think one time, I toggled the "Connect with WebSockets" option, and that helped (or maybe I just thought that is what fixed it). But, this error happens much more often that not. I just updated R and RStudio - so I'm not sure if that could be an issue? When the terminal does work, the name starts with MINGW64. And, in the options I have it set to "New terminals open with: Git Bash".

I apologize in advance if this has been explained already but, despite my searches online for help, I keep running into dead-ends. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Gaby
