Should SVG transformers know about related component?

Currently a transform function receives an SVG and turns it into something new.

This is an example:

module.exports = options => {
  return async (svg) => {
    return svg;
  };
}

type StringTransformer = (str: string) => Promise<string | undefined>

Should the transformer knows about the related component (the one exported as svg)?
