Well after all this time the answer has finally come. As it turns out I ran across this article and it fixed my issues with flying colors. As it turns out I had never really checked my e-steps because both printers were working fine. I then changed to dual gear extruders about the same time I updated firmware. I then did the research and did all that crap I posted above. SO apparently, my e-steps were set low and I was in effect under extruding, and for what ever reason the printer was happy with that. The addition of the new drives and then having the setting by the book so to speak, pissed off the printers. I followed the articles instructions and changed the "Extrusion multiplier" to "0.9" in Prusa Slicer and Holy Crap it looked beautiful. My direct Drive was perfect but OEM was under extruding, so I went to Control/Motion/ Flow and set it at 105,m and it seems ok so far with that. So for all this time if I had just know that adding all that extra material was raising the layers and I was ironing and compressing the crap out of it. SO thanks for letting me explode with all this info I am so happy to have found. https://3dprintingspace.com/t/over-extrusion-after-first-layer/5468 |

I have two Aquila's that I have converted to Ender3 V2's using 2 Creality 4.2.7 mainboards. Using the October 2nd build with the pre-compiled Ender3V2-427-BLTUBL-20221002 firmware, both printers were printing incredibly well. I was simply amazed. The first of the year I tried the new build. I first tried Experimental-Ender3V2-427-BLTUBL-IS-MPC-20221222. Things seemed OK, but both printers were struggling to get decent prints. Extrusions was all over the place even tho the E steps were calibrated and checked out. The top layers wanted to keep pulling and tearing like the Z steps were not going all the way up. I would have to constantly raise the Z offset during the print, to get a decent top layer. Both printers acting just alike. I then tried the Ender3V2-427-BLTUBL-MPC-20221222 file and have been getting the same results. I was about ready to pull what little hair I have left out.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issues and results?
