Disable Cloud?

Hello everyone,

is there a way to avoid the cloud or is it needed make this integration work?

I've tried:

• Removing the device from MS Smarthome APP -> Can't controll device anyome + looses it's ipv4 adress
• Blocking internetaccess for this device -> Can't controll device anyome + looses it's ipv4 adress

I have tried this with 2 different Midea Cubes. One works fine with the internet blocked, while the other one becomes unavailable. Here are the firmware versions:

Works (Not sure why I see 2 different versions)

• HA reports 7.33.22
• MSmartHome reports v1.0.6 (150023072116)

Does not Work

• HA reports 4.0.4
• MSmartHome reports v4.0.4

Unfortunately I had auto updates on for the second one and now it won't connect without internet. Looks like they are forcing it with newer firmware. Probably for collection of metrics. The other odd thing is that the working version doesn't even show that there is new firmware available, so it's possible they also made a minor design change and some older units may work fine.

Actually, after disabling automatic firmware updates, I noticed that it stopped making https pings every 15 minutes to the outside work. Now it is also running without a cloud connection. It may be a simple as turning off the firmware updates in settings so it doesn't phone home. It's possible that it is coded to shutdown all connections when it "thinks" its offline, assuming most people won't have it in a no-cloud setup.
