variables._variablename_.current.text no longer showing the variable name

Hi,
I recently updated from v1.6.7 to v1.8.1 and I found that variables.variablename.current.text is changed in a case where the variable type is Custom. It now show the same as variables.variablename.current.value . I hope the screeshot below is clear enough:
