Using environment variables in proxy.conf

Can I use environment variables in proxy.conf.json file?
I have .env file with variable. I want to use this variable in proxy.conf.json file as: "target": "$NX_API_ENDPOINT" It don't work so but maybe it have another way.

Environment variables in the JSON are not supported, but you can use a JavaScript file for the proxy, such as proxy.conf.js and use them in there
