Hello GitBook Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to suggest an enhancement to the way GitBook handles LaTeX syntax in Markdown for mathematical formulas. Currently, GitBook requires double dollar signs ($$) to parse inline LaTeX expressions. This differs from the conventions used in several popular Markdown editors like VSCode, where a single dollar sign ($) is sufficient and commonly used for inline formulas.
I propose that GitBook adopts the single dollar sign ($) syntax for inline LaTeX expressions. This change would not only align GitBook with other popular platforms, enhancing consistency for users who switch between different editors, but also streamline the writing process within GitBook itself.
If this can be done by using the grammar in KaTeX, and it would be nice for me and I will be sorry for proposing the discussion.
