Connecting Sosumi to apple account seems to work as far as downloading apps, access to icloud and photos. And sending outgoing imessages from within Sosumi works but receiving incoming imessages to Sosumi does not work (for me). Ubuntu 20.04.

That's a serial number issue - to make it work, you need a valid serial, or one that lets you activate the iServices (which you technically could get, if you edited the config.plist in clover's EFI partition). However, doing that is risky, since you may end up with a serial that belongs to an actual, purchased machine. The only surefire way to get working iMessage (and FaceTime) is by using an actual Apple machine, unfortunately.
