Can't import save data from my old phone

So I have a new phone and I want to transfer my save data, I copied the .sav files from my old phone and transferred them with my ROMs to my now phone, but the save files don't want to load even if I placed them in a separate folder for save files (yes I tried leaving them in the folder with the games but that didn't work either, yes I have the custom file path for saves set in the app), I haven't messed with the names of the files, any tips on how to get them working?
