Button hitboxes are too big?

I was playing lego battles ninjago. (goated game)
Then I pressed the space near the X button. It registered as a button press. The only buttons without this issue is the START, SELECT, fast-forward, close ds, and the button to remove all the other buttons. Do you think you could shed some light about this? It's gonna really help if ya do!
