Project: NISTEP Reconciliation

As part of ror-community/ror-roadmap#281, we are pursuing reconciliation with the NISTEP Dictionary of Names of Universities and Public Organizations using the data from the English and Japanese versions of the v2024.1 data file. Unmatched entries for top-level organization has been queried against both the OpenAlex and JALC APIs to organize by count of works, as described in 20241122_NISTEP_unmatched_top-level_orgs. Initial review of the data relative to the complexity of reconciliation has resulted in the following prioritization:

• All records with affiliation usage, excluding companies
• All company records with affiliation usage

Records without affiliation usage will need special assessment, in consultation with NISTEP, to determine their appropriateness for inclusion in ROR.
