Vim :INSERT status is unreadable due to the color

The FIRST image is when it is not in the INSERT mode. The SECOND image is when it is during the INSERT mode. I love the color theme, and it would be great if the barely readable INSERT status can be changed to black like when typing commands like in the THIRD image.
