Custom colors don't work when you specify a pallette

Hey guys I wanted to put this discussion here so if someone runs into the same issue they won't get stuck like I did. I followed the instructions on this page: https://squidfunk.github.io/mkdocs-material/setup/changing-the-colors/#customization for "Custom Colors," but it was not working.

The issue was that that I had a palette specified in my mkdocs.yaml file. If you are trying to use custom colors, the palette must be blank or it won't work. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but just wanted to put this info here in case someone else gets stuck.

Material for MkDocs implements colors using CSS variables (custom properties). If you want to customize the colors beyond the palette (e.g. to use your brand-specific colors), you can add an additional stylesheet and tweak the values of the CSS variables.

Let's say you're  YouTube, and want to set the primary color to your brand's palette. Just add:

  --md-primary-fg-color:        #EE0F0F;
  --md-primary-fg-color--light: #ECB7B7;
  --md-primary-fg-color--dark:  #90030C;
}
