Is it possible to implement additonal airplanmode in nightmode? It would save energy much more.

I'm sure it's possible, but it would mean that the user won't receive
possibly important SMS/calls. If the SIM has a PIN, then it won't
automatically come out of airplane mode. Too many complications :(

Yes, I know. But if it would a option which could toggle from case to case it is users choice to use it. For me it would perfect. Perhaps you could implement it with a hint of the problems of the sim-pin?

I was going to make the exact same suggestion. And no, it should not be on by default, but be an option. It could even be an option for the sleep time, for those times you really need the battery to last a very long time (often happens to me on travels).

As for the PIN, I know Android might have asked for it when coming out of Airplane mode before, but I am pretty sure that hasn't been default behaviour for a very long time now. I just tried on my Samsung I9100 with SlimROM 4.4.4, didn't get any PIN prompt, and connection works fine.

Those who use Airplane mode are bound to be aware that it entails no connection at all, so while a warning could be given, I do not think it is necessary. I generally turn on Airplane mode during the night.
