What is necessary to make this package ready for MELPA?

I'm willing to sit down and do whatever paperwork and communication and pull requesting and hacking and so on is necessary to get this package into MELPA (although I am disabled and to have a somewhat time-consuming job, so no promises this will happen in a timely manner), but of course I want to do that with your permission and will probably need your cooperation. So I'm opening this issue to begin that discussion!

Basically, I'm wondering what's holding this back. Is it simply a lack of interest in getting the process started or are there particular reasons you don't think it's ready?

I think this is an absolutely great package and deserves to be in a repository (hopefully so it can eventually migrate into core org mode at some point, but of course who knows).
