Does VisIt still need HDF4 (thats 4, not 5) plugins

There are 4 database plugins in VisIt that appear to use HDF4

note: we are talking about the almost 30 year old HDF 4 library here, (not HDF5).

These HDF4 plugins are...

• Cosmos
• Enzo
• RAGE
• Zeus

We have no data to test these plugins and are inclined to retire them.

Retiring does not mean they are gone forever. Users may still be able build them as custom plugins if the need ever arises. This ability could potentially fall out of date as these retired plugins fall out of sync with VTK and/or VisIt's internal APIs. But, changes to correct such issues are usually minor.

Please let us know if retiring any of these plugins would cause you any issues.
