The following display seems nice and kind of too good to be true, anyone got experience with https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/1005006923263915.html?

If there aren't experiences, would we expect the epdiy to support this with current hardware?

it should work since someone already made an adapter for it:
vroland/epdiy-hardware#13

Warning: The original connector might be not sourceable to solder anywhere.
I also tested today 11.5 Inch ED115oc1 and works but for some reason I still didn't found epdiy driver is hanging when the width is > 2000 pixels.

If you don't mind I will convert this into a Discussion since it's not an issue with the library and this display was already tested by someone.

Ah my search skills were not sufficient it seems. Good to hear at least someone tried it, but that someone was quite knowledgeable it seems. The changes required are not for the faint of heart, I'm yet to try my first epdiy so I'll skip this screen for now, despite its specs being kind of awesome.

I see your point. My intended use case is unclear tbh, but I don't think I would mind the long delays for any purpose I can think of.

But we're getting into territory where these displays can be used for wall art, like paintings (albeit with slight dithering to counteract banding). Maybe even put some screens in a 2x2 grid and just update sequentially with one controller. Having 4 controllers would be a bit pricey imo. I completely lack the needed electronics skills but I'm just keeping an eye out on projects like epdiy and affordable big-ish screens.

btw, did you mean 5713200 * (4bits = 0.5byte) =~ 2.8MB?

also, is the ED115oc1 more beginner friendly, as in, no resoldering needed?

Yes sorry I miscalculated completely. I would highly recommend to start with a supported panel like the 13.3 if you want big displays (A bit more expensive but it is proved to work)
Is always hard to start with something the first time. But if you want to take the risk, go ahead!

Ah also I think that would be doable but never tried it, like building a board, with 2 connectors and using EPD_VDD as "Chip select"
Also power one board, send the framebuffer, wait for refresh....And power it off, power the next EPD_VDD and send the next image all using library as is. It works in my mind but still never really tried it, so cannot say it works in reality.
