If rdf:JSON is in RDF 1.2 will there be any SPARQL functions on its value space?

I would think that's best left to a future WG and spec version when there is more likely to be implementation- and user-experience of such functions.

I worry about such functions exposing problems with the rdf:JSON datatype itself. Adding these functions now could prevent having to change the datatype later.

rdf:xmlLiteral does not additional special functions. It is treated as a extension datatype.

rdf:JSON should follow the same pattern for SPARQL 1.2.
