Query on WCAG 2.2.2 - Focus Indicator Animation #3156
-
Hi Team, I have a question regarding WCAG 2.2.2. My question is, will this blinking focus indicator animation be considered a failure of 2.2.2 pause, stop and hide? Additionally, can we consider the focus indicator appearance as animation here since it only appears on the keyboard tab focus? I have attached a video demonstrating the issue for reference. What I see is not blinking but a slow and minor expansion and contraction of the circular overlay focus. Technically yes it seems this can be considered animation. The animation certainly attracts attention to the navigation (and may therefore be distracting) but that will usually be short-lived since anyone moving focus there is likely to pick a menu item and then move on to something else. So if seems a very minor violation to me, if any... To be on the safe side, to meet 2.2.2 you would want the focus animation on the element to stop after 5 sec latest. |
