Controlling volume increase/decrease steps?

I'm using a LG 40" Ultrawide 5k monitor hooked up to a Mac Mini M2 Pro. BetterDisplay is working great but my only issue is the steps that volume is increased / decreased. For example, if the volume is at zero, clicking volume up jumps from zero to 6, then from 6 to 13, 13 to 19 and so on. The problem is that the volume increase from level 6 to level 13 on my monitor is drastic. 6 is barely audible, and 13 is insanely loud. I know that's more of a hardware complaint about the monitor, but is there any way in BetterDisplay to control the volume steps specifically for my monitor so that it increases by 1 level at at time? (6,7,8,9...)

Yes, you need to adjust either the range (you can redefine it from 0-100 to 0-16 for example to match OSD levels) or you need to adjust the scale curve skew so the scale is finer at lower values.

I was wondering whether there is a way to make the DCC volume increase/decrease in steps of exactly e.g. steps of 1? There seems to be a curve of some sort behind the skew setting and it triggers my OCD having to use an "inaccurate" slider control in order to find the appropriate value.

What I'm referring to specifically is the behavior when using the native audio keys. Having the range set to 0-100, default skew and making fine scale the default, the volume still does not decrease/increase with increments of exactly one.

To my experience there is no internal curve as the monitor OSD volume level matches the DCC control value 1:1.

If you want the fine scale to match the display volume control, you need to set the range set to 0-64, skew to default.

As an extra information note the volume keys by default don't do a 1:1 change. You can do that (almost) 1:1 change with a key combination (fine scale):

Shift ⇧ Option ⌥ Volume Up/Down

I was looking for this and tried the amazing configuration of BetterDisplay until remembering that key combination exists.

Right. You can make the audio steps 1:1 if you adjust the DDC control range for volume to 0-64. Usually 64+ is not meaningful anyway on most displays.

@waydabber on my case (LG Ergo) setting 0-64 just limits the volume to 64 and I can tell you there's noticeable difference in that 64-100 range. But my issue was not the same as the original question since I was looking for the fine scale, and the solution was right there :)
