AiTexter

AiTexter is an easy-to-use graphical Desktop Python tool that allows users to process selected text using AI-powered models like OpenAI (ChatGPT 4o-mini default) or Ollama models. It offers four powerful text processing functions that can be used directly from any application. It works in any language, even the UI is in German. In future, englisch ui will be added.

Features

• Rephrase: Changes the wording and structure of the selected text while keeping its meaning intact.
• Translate: Translates the selected text between English and German.
• Summarize: Provides a concise summary of the selected text.
• Rephrase + Translate: Combines rephrasing and translation in one step.

Installation

1. Download the installer: AiTexterInstaller.exe.
2. Run the setup file and follow the instructions to install AiTexter.
3. After installation, you will find a desktop icon for AiTexter.

Usage

1. Launch the Tool: Start AiTexter from the desktop icon. A small blue icon will appear in the system tray.
2. Settings: Right-click on the system tray icon and select "Settings" to enter your OpenAI API key or Ollama model details.
3. Text Processing:

   • Highlight the text you want to process in any application. If no text is selectet, it uses the text in clipboard.

   • Press Ctrl + Shift + 0 to activate the tool.

   • Select the desired function from the menu (e.g., Rephrase or Translate).

   • The tool will process the text and paste the result directly at the cursor position.
