<!-- ***Jiayi Wu*** is a member of the [RoboPI](https://robopi.ece.ufl.edu/people.html#Grad) lab, he is a master’s student(thesis) in ECE Department of the University of Florida. His research focus is on low-cost 3D reconstruction and depth estimation in scattering medium. He is currently working on wraping up his master thesis project under the supervision of Prof. Islam. The primaly research goal of his thesis is to formulate a fast and robust underwater 3D reconstruction algorithm based on the fusion of SfM algorithm and deep learning. He is also collaboraing with other students across the lab to make it lightweight and deployable on low-power robotic systems. -->

Hi! Welcome to my website. I'm Baker Herrin, a Ph.D. student supervised by [Prof. Jane Shin](https://mae.ufl.edu/people/faculty/primary/profiles/jane-jaejeong-shin/) in the [APRILab (Active Perception and Robot Intelligence Lab)](http://prg.cs.umd.edu/), [University of Maryland, College Park](hhttps://janeshin-website.github.io/). My research focuses on computer vision and robotics, specifically in the areas of active vision, field robotics, and underwater 3D vision. Inspired by nature, I am dedicated to creating innovative robot perception systems that challenge existing paradigms and redefine the future of robotics.
Hi! Welcome to my website. I'm Baker Herrin, a Ph.D. student supervised by [Prof. Jane Shin](https://mae.ufl.edu/people/faculty/primary/profiles/jane-jaejeong-shin/) in the [APRILab (Active Perception and Robot Intelligence Lab)](https://janeshin-website.github.io/), [University of Florida, Gainesville](https://www.ufl.edu/). My research is focused on data-driven robot planning and 3D mapping. My research seeks to combine the domains of deep learning, uncertainty quantification, path planning, and 3D reconstruction. Some areas of interest are Neural Radiance Fields, planning algorithms, SLAM, and Model Predictive Control. Through my research I'm seeking to enhance our ability to use robotics as a tool to better map and track changes in the environment around us.

***My research interest includes:***
- General Environment Vision: Make computer vision systems more robust to the environment (scattering media, bad weather)
- Low-cost 3D reconstruction and depth estimation in scattering medium
- Active Vision: Feedback control through vision
- Photorealistic Robot Mapping
- Underwater perception platforms
- 3D Change detection

<!-- - The application of computer vision in the medical field (including but not limited to medical image processing, pathological image segmentation, image enhancement) -->
<!-- - AI-based Surgical Navigation: Make AI have the ability to generate structured diagnostic reports through medical images, and combine NLP algorithms and computer vision technology to achieve surgical navigation -->
