Clone and Fork

What's the user need?

Faculty

  • clone their own books when they want to keep a record of a previous version used, but make edits to it for an upcoming iteration of the course. This also applies to TAs and FAs who are working with their instructor to this end.
  • clone other books when they want to adapt those existing books. Their modifications may be major, or minor, but still seek to use the other casebook as a base.

Students

  • clone books when they want to make their own annotations. Their copy can also be shared with other students to view or discuss.

All these individuals may also seek to clone a single item - such as an annotated case or text block - or chapter/section to have their own copy of it to make annotations and share with others.

What does H2O do to address this need?

H2O allows logged-in users to clone an item, chapter or full book.

By clicking the 'Clone' button when viewing a book or item, H2O creates a copy of the item, including its contents and annotations, for the user. The user can then view this book/item to make (or modify) annotations and share it with others.
