Display functions converted from the Arduino code running 400 lights on my Christmas tree and 1200 Christmas lights in front of my house.

Assumes that the displays will run around 35 fps.
Listed max currents are overstated somewhat.

candycane - 9.0 A
Red and white spiral up the tree.

sparkle - 0.6 A
Brilliant red, green, and white sparkles.

levels - 10.1 A
Sorta like a candy cane tower of hanoi

twinkle - 1.2 A
Sparkles that shift through the color wheel.

globe - 9.5 A
It's a globe, but on a cone.

matts favorite spreadsheet - 12.8 A
Yo, dawg. I hear you like spreadsheets so I put spreadsheets of your spreadsheets in your spreadsheet.
(Not sure if this will actually come out on the tree)

fractal - 10.1 A
It's leds all the way down.

The flickering/sparkling is a bit fast, at least on simulators with immediate turn off of the lights this looks quite a bit disturbing. On actual LEDs that could look better.

The animations that need resolution might not be ideal on Matt's tree. You can somewhat see the idea but they aren't exactly clear to the eye.

But I enjoyed reading that Matt isn't the only (crazy) one with such a setup. ;)

I'm hoping most of the effects will turn out since they were converted from ones that I already use. I'm using the simulator and my experience working with these lights to take what I hope are reasonable guesses for appropriate parameters in a new environment.

I don't have video of this year's but from last years outside display:

sparkle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNmCb0pvgGo&t=730s

(A rainbow version)

For the image mapped displays I figure that fractal should be fine since it really is just pretty colors. For globe I'm betting on the blue/green pattern "spinning" in a left to right manner gives enough context. spreadsheet was done just for fun.
