Heat Exchangers

When a Nuclear Reactor generates heat, that heat needs to go somewhere. And if too much heat builds up in any one place, that one place (component) will melt. Heat Exchangers allow you to take that heat and spread it around. This makes them mostly effective for moving heat between Coolant Cells and Heat Vents, or between several Heat Vents (so that all of them operate and none overheat).

Heat Exchangers will interact with either neighboring components, the Reactor hull, or both. Every Reactor tick, they will attempt to equalize the percent heat stored within all things they interact with, including themselves.

There are four different Heat Exchangers.

• Heat Exchanger - Exchanges up to 12 heat with each adjacent component, then exchanges up to 4 heat with the reactor hull each tick. Holds up to 2500 heat.
• Reactor Heat Exchanger - Exchanges up to 72 heat with the reactor hull each tick, but does not exchange heat with nearby components. Can be used as a thermometer for the reactor hull itself. Holds up to 5000 heat.
• Component Heat Exchanger - Exchanges up to 36 heat with each adjacent component each tick, but does not exchange heat with the reactor hull. Holds up to 5000 heat.
• Advanced Heat Exchanger - Exchanges up to 24 heat with each adjacent component, then exchanges up to 8 heat with the reactor hull each tick. Holds up to 10000 heat.
